Grattons hosted the London and Southern Counties Finals this week. The mens team were playing in the final of the 4’S Final. Grattons were on the back foot from the start and had only one point on the score board for 7 ends and they were 9-1 down. Then Grattons started to pull back and get ahead . On the 19th end the score was 12-19 to Grttons. On end 20 Lodden Vale pulled 5 shots back, so the score going into the last end was 17-19 to Grattons. The last end was a very tense moment as either team could have taken the crown. Lodden Vale managed to score one point so Grattons won 18-19. This is the first time Grattons has won this title. What an achievement for the team , Ralph Steele, Ralph Lonsdale ,Keith Faber and Simon Pettingel.
The Ladies team played Preston Ladies IBC on Tuesday what was a tight game to start with the score 44-32 at 10 to Grattons at ten ends. The ladies continurd to pull ahead and won 108-53. Top rink was Jackie Roderick, Irene Saunders, Beryl Cousins and Gaynor Campbell.
The Mixed team were at home to The Piscatorial Bowls Society.This is always a popular game due to the charity work the Piscatorial’s do. The score was close to start but Grattons stormed ahead and finally won 149-81. Top rink was Brian Hussey, Julie Packham, Anita Rymerand Brian Keeley.
Overall it has been a good week for Grattons.
